SLS and paraben free Body Wash and Shower Gel

Skin Salve’s organic body wash is free from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), parabens, mineral oil, synthetic fragrances and propylene glycol.

Most everyday shower products use a cheap foaming agent called SLS (to create their bubbles). SLS does produce a great deal of foam, but research has proven that continuous exposure carries health risks.

It can be harsh and drying on the skin. People with sensitive skin and eczema often find it very irritating, causing immediate, painful flare ups.

Why it works

Our SLS free organic body wash and shower gel eliminates your body’s absorption of SLS and other undesirable ingredients, including paraben preservatives and synthetic fragrances.

It is formulated using pure natural ingredients to nourish and care for sensitive skin while you shower, and works equally well on hair and is known to be great at combating dandruff.

  • Made with organic coconut and high oleic sunflower oils
  • Free from Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate (SLES)
  • Vegan, gluten free and cruelty free compliant
  • USDA NOP Certification - 75.49% organic ingredients | COSMOS certification: 23.0% organic PPAI

It includes pure oils which have therapeutic properties and are naturally moisturising:

Sunflower Oil – Sunflower oil is an emollient which retains moisture in the skin. It also provides a protective barrier that can help stop infection. Sunflower oil is high in essential vitamin E.

Coconut Oil – Studies on individuals with dry skin show that coconut oil can improve the moisture and lipid content of the skin. Coconut Oil acts as a moisturiser, antibiotic, anti-fungal, multivitamin, multi-nutrient and antioxidant.

Glycerin – Glycerin is what is called a humectant, meaning that it attracts water. Glycerin is an emollient, making skin not only moist, but soft and supple to the touch. When glycerin or glycerol is applied to the skin, it seals in moisture that might otherwise escape. In addition to keeping the moisture level of the skin high, the cosmetic effect of glycerin on skin is that the skin looks healthier. The improved appearance of skin is due in part to the fact that the skin is hydrated and does not have the characteristic scaly look of dry skin.

As with our entire product range, extensive research was conducted in the course of developing this new skin care product. No testing was conducted on animals.

This organic body wash is formulated using natural ingredients to nourish and care for sensitive skin while you shower.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What do dermatologists recommend to wash your body with?

Dermatologists recommend “a gentle, unscented cleanser should be used to clean.” Skin Salve’s Body Wash and Shower Gel contains no known irritants and is gentle and unscented cleanser. We would always recommend you look for shower gels that are sulphate and paraben free as these ingredients have been proven to have a detrimental effect on your skin.

Why is a scent free body wash better for sensitive skin?

By adding scents to body washes and shower gels, you increase the number of chemicals in the product, increasing the chance of skin irritation. If you can still smell the scent after washing it means that the chemicals remain on your skin and could irritate it further.
