Skin Salve Soap for sensitive skin, eczema, dermatitis, and other difficult skin conditions
Skin Salve’s soap is designed to lock in natural moisture for the skin. This stops the skin drying out and keeps it supple, and less prone to cracking and itching.
This creates a protective, non staining barrier, giving the skin a chance to repair itself, and protecting it from further irritation.

Second Chance Soap Bars
Our Soap Bars are handmade using the Cold Process method. When cutting and preparing, soap can be damaged. Instead of throwing these away, you can buy them as our Second Chance Soap Bars. They may be a few grams lighter, they may not be as perfect as our normal bar, but you can save 20% when buying them.

Why it works
The soap contains no vigorous cleansers or fragrances and its skin enriching quality greatly aids the process of repairing damaged skin, helping to improve dry skin conditions, such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
This soap has been in use worldwide for over 30 years on all types of sensitive skin, including those suffering from eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. It has a proven track record of providing relief, and in some cases a cure for all types of distressing and often painful skin conditions.
When examining the labels of typical soap bars, you'll notice a range of 10 to 20 ingredients listed. These may encompass fragrances, chemicals, and colourants, along with fillers and potential irritants such as Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). These components serve as cost-effective methods for soap production, but they may not always be beneficial for your sensitive skin.
Skin Salve soap contains just 7 ingredients, including
Sodium Tallowate: Renowned for its cleansing and moisturising properties, Sodium Tallowate has been a staple in soap manufacturing, contributing to the creation of bars that are beneficial for the skin.
Sodium Cocoate: Derived from Coconut oil, Sodium Cocoate serves as a surfactant, effectively eliminating dirt, oil, and other impurities while simultaneously providing moisturisation to the skin.
Glycerin: Glycerin enhances the skin barrier by attracting moisture from the air, ensuring skin hydration and minimising water loss.
Tocopheryl Acetate: Vitamin E is commonly known as an anti-inflammatory agent for the skin. Functioning as both a 'humectant' and an 'emollient,' it aids in water absorption by the skin and retains it within the skin. Additionally, it has demonstrated efficacy in alleviating eczema for some individuals. Tocopheryl Acetate is a common ingredient in various anti-aging creams, eye serums, sunscreens, and makeup products.
The Natural Soap Bar
Skin Salve Natural Soap Bar is manufactured at our Cheltenham site. This allows us to create a bar to a specific set of dimensions.
By making, cutting and preparing our soap this way, we’re able to minimise postage costs and therefore ship our soap bars to you, for free in the UK.

How to use [sensitive skin]
After washing your skin as you would normally, emulisfy the soap in your hands. This creates a rich creamy lather which should then be worked into the dry skin areas and left to dry on the skin, then rinsed off. This process can be repeated two to three times daily.
This creates a protective, non staining clear barrier, allowing the skin smoothing and softening process to occur.
As with all Skin Salve's products it is important not to use any other skin care, bath foam, soap, shampoo, deodorant, perfume, aftershave, or washing powder for the duration of the programme, as this may interfere with its effectiveness.
How to use [normal skin]
Lather and use as you would with any high quality soap. It has been designed for all skin types so can be used all over your body, including your face and for shaving.
How it's made
We use the traditional Cold Process method for making soap - this gives us complete control over the ingredients, standards and process allowing us to create a better product for our customers.
After the soap is made, it is allowed to cure for at least four weeks. This creates a harder bar, which lasts longer, produces a better lather and is more gentle on your skin.
As this is handmade soap, there may be some imperfections in the bars.
Measurements
Each bar measures approximately 70 x 70 x 19mm. They weigh approximately 85g.
FAQs
How are these different to your standard bars?
When Cold Process Soap is cut, some pieces can be damaged - little bits break off as it hasn't fully hardened yet. Instead of throwing these away, we cure them and then hand-finish the bars to fix the imperfections.
They are the exact same bar as our Natural Soap bar, they just have little bits missing, broken corners for example.
We also re-batch any pieces that cannot be saved and produce new bars with them.
Can I see a picture of them?
Yes - see below the FAQ section for a selection of images of our Sustainable Bars.
What does curing mean?
We manufacture our soap using the Cold Process method of production. After the soap has been made, it is cut to size and then cured for at least four weeks. This is where the soap is allowed to rest in a well ventilated room to allow excess moisture to evaporate.
The result is a much harder bar which lasts longer, produces a better lather and is gentler on the skin.
What does it smell like?
Skin Salve Natural Soap is unscented. Our experience has shown that adding chemicals and fragrances to soap can irritate the skin.
Is shipping really free?
Yes - we ship anywhere in the UK for free, using the Royal Mail delivery network.
I've been charged for my shipping, what do I do?
Please don’t worry - we will refund the excess postage charge. Some of our products have been made to fit Royal Mail Large Letter sizes. The Natural Soap and Shaving Soap are both made to be 85g and have 15g of packaging. Sometimes the bar may be a little bigger and so it takes the whole product over 100g, which can incur a postage charge if we miss this when shipping. If this has happened to you, please let us know by sending us an email and include a receipt of the surcharge. We will refund you the difference.
